Elect Tom Dale

About Tom Dale

I grew up on a cattle ranch in eastern Washington, and Arrived in Nampa in 1968 to attend NNU.

Feeling a desire to serve our country, I left NNU after my freshman year to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war.

After serving four years in the Navy, I returned to Nampa and completed my bachelor’s degree at NNU.

After working on the family ranch for a time, I decided to continue my education at the University of North Texas, where I earned a Masters degree.

In the next 16 years I served people through the Church of the Nazarene, ran a small business, and established a marketing program for an oil company in the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai. These experiences provide me with a wealth of knowledge and a broad base from which to serve the people of Nampa.

In 1996 I started serving Nampa on the City Council. At the time I was teaching school at Nampa Christian High School, managing a small business, RTD Irrigation, as well as officiating high school football and basketball. During this time, I took advantage of every educational opportunity through the National League of Cities and Association of Idaho Cities to learn more about city government and public administration. These six years of service on the City Council showed me this was a place where I could use the rich experiences of my life to serve the people of Nampa.

In 2001, the people of Nampa elected me to work for them as their mayor, and for the next 12 years I held that trust as sacred and led with transparency and integrity.

As Mayor I had the distinct honor to work fervently to make Nampa a city we can all be proud of. In addition to my duties as Mayor I have served as President of the Association of Idaho Cities, Chairman of the Board for the Metropolitan Planning Organization, COMPASS, Chairman of the board for Valley Regional Transit, President of Treasure Valley Partnership, and Chairman of the College of Western Idaho Advisory Council, Nampa Chamber of Commerce Board, the Nampa Salvation Army Board, and NNU’s School of Business Advisory Council.

I enjoy a wide variety of activities: hunting, fishing, sporting clays, bicycling, golf, and skiing. After 34 years, I still enjoy officiating high school football. I am a private pilot and enjoy sharing the joy of flight with anyone brave enough to go fly with me. On weekends you can often find me playing with the High Street Band or with the worship team at my church. As you can see, I love life, and appreciate the richness of all that it offers us here in Idaho.

Thank you Canyon County for placing your trust in me for the last 18 years. We still have some great opportunities ahead of us in the next four years. I appreciate your continued trust and humbly ask for your vote on May 20th.
